While on a call, the mobile app provides several in-call controls that allow you to manage the conversation, add participants, or adjust your audio settings.
Choose the right call action
The mobile app provides several ways to manage active calls. Use the table below to choose the correct action.
| If you want to... | Use this feature |
|---|---|
| Temporarily silence your microphone so others cannot hear you | Mute |
| Pause the conversation temporarily | Hold |
| Add another participant to the call | Merge (3-way call) |
| Send the caller to another person | Transfer |
Mute yourself on a call
You can mute your microphone during a call if you need to prevent the other participant from hearing you.
Mute notes
- Muting a call disables your microphone only.
- You will still be able to hear the other participant.
- The mute indicator will appear on the call screen while muted.
- While on an active call, select the Mute button.
- Select Mute again to unmute yourself and resume speaking.

Access the dialpad during a call
Use the dialpad during a call when you need to enter numbers, such as navigating automated phone menus or entering extension numbers.
Dialpad notes
- Dialpad entries send DTMF (Dual Tone Multi-Frequency) tones to the call.
- Dialpad access is commonly used for IVR (Interactive Voice Memo) menus, extension dialing, or conference PINs.
- While on an active call, select the Keypad or Dialpad button.
- Enter the numbers required for the system or extension you are dialling.

Change audio source during a call
You can switch the audio source during a call to use your device speaker, Bluetooth headset, or another connected audio device.
Audio device notes
- Available audio options depend on the devices currently connected to your phone.
- Bluetooth headsets or earbuds must already be connected to appear as an option.
- While on an active call, select the Audio or Speaker button.
- Select the audio device you want to use.
Success: The call audio will switch to the selected device.

Place a call on hold
You can place an active call on hold to pause a conversation temporarily.
Call hold notes
- When a call is on hold, the other participant cannot hear you.
- The call remains active until you either resume the call or end it.
- You can place a call on hold before transferring a call or starting a 3-way call.
To place an active call on hold:
While on an active call, select the Hold button.
The call will be placed on hold.
To resume a call on hold:
Select the Resume or Hold button again.
The call will reconnect and continue normally.
Handle call waiting
If you receive another call while you are already on a call, Call Waiting allows you to manage both calls without disconnecting the first caller.
Call waiting notification
When a second call comes in, the Sync mobile app will alert you based on your device settings (sound, vibration) and display options, and will either end your current call or place it on hold before answering the new call.
End and accept
Ends your current call and immediately answers the incoming call. Use this option when the new call is more urgent or when you no longer need to continue the current conversation.
Hold and accept
Places your current call on hold and answers the incoming call. The original caller remains on hold until you return to that call, allowing you to briefly handle another call without disconnecting the first caller.
Note: While a call is on hold, the other caller cannot hear you until you resume the call.

Merge calls (3-way conference)
Use the Add a Call and Merge options to set up a 3-way call in the mobile app.
3-way calling notes
- When you add a second call, the original call is automatically placed on hold.
- The Merge button appears only after the second call is answered.
- selectping End Call during a merged call ends the call for all participants.
Start a 3-way call
Follow the steps below to merge two active calls into a 3-way conversation.
- While on an active call, select Add a Call.
- Choose the second participant:
- Select a contact from your contact list, or
- Enter an external phone number.
- When the second call is answered, select Merge.
- Both calls will combine into a single 3-way call.
End or manage a 3-way call
- select End Call to end the call for all participants.
- select the info icon to view each call and end them individually.
