Configure Mobile App Notifications

Mobile app notifications help you stay aware of incoming calls, messages, and other activity even when the net2phone app is running in the background.

Enabling notifications ensures you receive alerts for important events so you can respond quickly while working from your mobile device.

Enable Notification Permissions on your Device

To receive notifications from the mobile app, you must allow notification permissions on your device when you first log in or when prompted by the app.

During login, the mobile app may prompt you to grant access to certain device permissions. Select Allow when prompted so the app can deliver notifications for incoming calls and messages.

If you previously denied notifications, re-enable them through your device’s system settings:

  1. Open your device Settings.
  2. Select Notifications.
  3. Find and select the net2phone mobile app.
  4. Ensure notifications are enabled.

If notifications are disabled at the device level, the mobile app will not alert you to new calls or messages.

Example: iOS Settings page open to Apps > net2phone > Notifications.

Call notifications

Call notifications alert you when someone is trying to reach your extension. When enabled, notifications for incoming calls will appear even if you minimize the app or lock your phone screen.

Depending on your device settings, incoming calls may appear as:

  • a full-screen incoming call notification screen,
  • a banner or push notification, and,
  • a ringtone and vibration alert.

These alerts help ensure you do not miss important business calls while working away from your desk.

Example: Call notification coming in, with the mobile app open on the Calls tab.

Message notifications

Message notifications inform you when a new text message or conversation activity occurs in the mobile app.

When enabled, you may receive alerts for:

  • New direct messages
  • Updates in active conversations
  • New interactions requiring your attention

Message notifications help you stay responsive to clients and colleagues while using the mobile app.

Silent Mode and Do Not Disturb

Silent Mode controls notifications for the net2phone mobile app, while Do Not Disturb controls notifications for your device.

Use Silent Mode when you want to pause net2phone mobile app interruptions during meetings, focused work, or after hours. When Silent Mode is enabled in the mobile app, the app stops delivering incoming calls and notifications to that device. You can still review missed activity later in your call history and message inbox.

Use Do Not Disturb when you want your device to reduce or silence notifications more broadly. Do Not Disturb is a device-level sett ing that silences notifications based on your phone’s system settings. Use your device settings if you want to limit interruptions across multiple apps, not just the net2phone mobile app.

Troubleshooting and Call Quality Tips

If you are not receiving notifications or experiencing issues with incoming calls, try the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Confirm that notifications are enabled in your device settings.
  • Ensure the mobile app is installed and up to date.
  • Check that your device has a stable Wi-Fi or cellular data connection.
  • Verify that your device is not in Do Not Disturb mode.
  • Restart the mobile app or your device if notifications stop appearing.

If the issue continues, contact your company administrator or support team for additional assistance.
