Blind vs. consultative call transfers

There are two types of call transfers you can perform: blind and consultative.

Blind transfer
Sends the call directly to the recipient without speaking to them first. Use this when no introduction is required.

Consultive transfer
Allows you to speak to the recipient before completing the transfer. Use this when you need to introduce the caller or confirm availability.

Perform a blind transfer

A blind transfer will send the call to the intended destination immediately.

  1. While on an active call, press the Transfer soft key.
  2. Dial an extension or a 10-digit phone number.
Or, press the Directory soft key to select a contact instead of dialling manually.
  3. Press the Transfer soft key again to complete the transfer.
If using the handset, you can hang up to complete the transfer.

Perform a consultative transfer

A consultative transfer allows you to introduce the call to the intended recipient before you reroute the caller.

  1. While on an active call, press the Transfer soft key.
  2. Dial an extension or a 10-digit phone number.
Or, press the Directory soft key to select a contact instead of dialling manually.
  3. Press OK or the # key to place the call.
  4. When the recipient answers, introduce the caller.
  5. Press the Transfer soft key again to complete the transfer.
If using the handset, you can hang up to complete the transfer.

Cancel a call transfer

To cancel a transfer:

  • Press Cancel once if you have not dialled the number yet.
  • Press Cancel twice if you have already dialled.

You will return to the original caller.
